Freistadt runs for those who cannot

On 10 May 2026, Freistadt will be part of the world’s largest charity running event. The Wings for Life World App Run brings runners and wheelchair users together at the starting line to send a powerful message of solidarity and hope. Ascendor is also taking part in this special run with a team. The lift manufacturer Ascendor from Neufelden will be supporting the Austrian para-triathlete and two-time Paralympic silver medallist Florian Brungraber. He, in turn, is a Wings for Life ambassador and plays a key role in organising the run in Freistadt.

The race format does away with a traditional finish line: instead, a virtual Catcher Car follows the participants and ends the race for each individual. Every metre run counts – because 100 per cent of the entry fees go directly to international spinal cord research. The race starts at the Freistadt Brewery’s logistics centre, from where a circuit of around 1.9 kilometres is completed. For one day, Freistadt will thus become part of a global movement running for all those who cannot do so themselves.
